CD-i Zelda

The cutscenes from the 1993 CD-i Zelda games (Link: The Faces of Evil and Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon) have become a very frequent running joke on The Channel of Egg, due to their frequent use in YouTube Poops.
Origins[edit | edit source]
In 1993, two Zelda games were released for the Philips CD-i. Though officially licensed by Nintendo, the games are considered non-canon and the company had no input on the creation of the games, which were produced by the now-defunct Animation Magic. The games featured animated FMV cutscenes that played throughout the game. These cutscenes were strangely animated, and had very awkward writing and voice acting.
Around 2006, the cutscenes (along with Hotel Mario's cutscenes) began to gain infamy online, and were a popular source in YouTube Poops in the late 2000s and early 2010s.
